Here you will meet our cats. We have 5 of them ranging from 3 1/2 years to 15 years. I grew up in a one cat household, and my first cat as an adult was an only cat, too. She went so crazy once thinking that her reflection in full length mirrors in our apartment was another cat. It wasn't pretty and her wrath wasn't pretty. We had to have her declawed as much as I hated it and put her on valium. But what soothed her broken heart was the fact that I papered over the bottom foot and a half of the windows and mirrors so that other cat was gone and she was then again at peace. Somebody was a good soul and I still miss her. To read a tribute to her, click here.

So having 5 cats is like a dream come true for me. Most of them don't get along, and one of them is quite the handful, but I must say, our life would be too quiet without him. He's a big ball of energy and trouble that we love dearly.

Now let me introduce you to our furballs of love...
Lolita.
She's about 15 years old and is my boyfriend's cat. She is a one person cat and hates any and all other people or animals. After 6 years she still gives me a look quite remiscent of "wishing me away to the cornfield." Those Twilight Zone fans out there will know what I mean. But in spite of everything I love her dearly. She's stuck with me whether she wants to be or not. This is usually how I can photograph Lolita, as the sleeping angelic creature.

But this is usually how she looks at me...

Buster.
Nicknames: Buster Monkey, Buster Boy, Buster Brown. Buster is another rescue of John's. Buster is a good boy. He came to us front declawed and has bathroom problems connected to pain in his joints from the declaw. Personally, I don't believe in declawing cats. There is only one cat that has been so difficult to trim their claws that I could see most people declawing. That story's coming up. Here's my stance, if it's a choice between the cat having a home or being given up or not taken in because of it's claws, by all means declaw. But research into it. See what is actually done. Know
whatyou are doing to the animal by declawing. Consider alternatives, i.e. keeping claws trimmed, or training them to let you put the claw protectors on. They stay on for 6 weeks. So, off of my soapbox and back to Buster. He's a good boy, affectionate, very playful for 11 years old, and very distinguished, he doesn't have a tail...

Bobo.
Bobo. What can I say about Bobo? She's so cute! I just love her to bits. Bobo and her litter mate were almost feral kittens living in my Dad's and the neighbors yards in 1999. Her littermate was an absolutely striking gray tabby with impeccable markings and gorgeous eyes. She was also the friendlier of the two. I spent a good deal of the summer that year trying to get those two used to people. I fed them and sat in the yard with them at night. The litter mate got used to me right away, but Bobo stayed her distance. Finally, after weeks she let me pet her and play with her a bit. Soon afterward the littermate disappeared, to a good home no doubt, she was a beautiful cat, and I talked my father into letting me take Bobo in. At the time, I was going through a divorce and staying with him. Bobo is my pride and joy, she has a lovely orange nose that I adore, and she is my girl. I realized much to my embarassment once that whenever anyone said the name Bobo I immediately responded with "She's so cute!" I didn't even realize I was doing it, but I did it everytime.
